Accountability at workplace

Accountability reminds me of this story of four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done, and everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure that somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it but nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that and because it was everybody’s job, everybody thought anybody could do it but nobody realized that everybody won’t do it. Everybody blamed somebody when nobody did what anybody could have done.

A leader’s job is to create an environment that encourages accountability and this environment is created when you reward not just success but also reward people who fell short while getting closer to them.

Accountability means that all people in the organization are responsible for their actions, behaviors, performances, and decisions and it’s about recognizing everyone’s performance is dependent on each other.

Ask yourself, have I created an environment of accountability for my team?

Recognize everyone’s performance in the team!

Hope this helps in your journey toward success.
