There is one thing that has greatly concerned almost all of my clients …
And today, I want to spend time addressing that with you.
You might agree that providing feedback has long been considered to be an essential skill for leaders. And most leaders do that well.
The problem comes in when leaders want feedback.
Most suggest going on for 360-degree feedback. But let me tell you, having coached numerous leaders, I can almost guarantee that there is a fundamental problem with all types of 360 feedback. And that is they are time-consuming, limited, and not authentic enough to help you improve, Why?
Well, because people aren’t willing to say the real thing, and number two, you aren’t ready to accept true feedback.
You want that kind of feedback where it helps you improve and gets you to do some work inside of yourself.
And you can get authentic feedback in a simple two-step process:
1. Pick one area or behavior that you would like to change.
2. Ask people questions such as “How can I improve?” OR “What can I do better ?” or “What can I do to be a better leader of the group?” You get the idea.
These questions make people feel that their opinion is important. They feel privileged to be asked and most of the time you will land up getting authentic feedback.
And now it’s up to you, how you want to act on the feedback you get.
Hope this helps in your journey to success.
