Well, it's a word that describes change, and it's a word that overwhelms many leaders. It scares them because they have to leave their comfort zone and step into the unknown. This fear is so natural. See, our brains are designed for survival, and being fearful of any transition is a normal response. In fact, I have faced the fear of transition myself. But what I learned early on is how to starve my fear and feed my faith. What this does is that rather than holding you back from taking that leap, it helps you to plan better and make beneficial decisions for the transitions.
The problem is, many people do not know if the transition will benefit them or lead to something worse. So before you take any leap—whether it’s changing your job, moving to a different country, transitioning into a new role, or anything else—there is a lot of planning that has to go into it. You have to be really sure that this is for your good. You must ask yourself: Is this something that will truly benefit me? Because, to be honest, I have seen many people leave their current roles only to regret their decision later. Sometimes, the transition can backfire and negatively impact your career rather than help it.
Transition is a must. Empower yourself to leap into the unknown, but do so with preparation and planning. Take the time to conduct all the necessary research before making the leap. Once you have made the transition, there’s often no going back to what you left behind. So, be prepared, plan thoroughly, and ensure that your transition will be as smooth and beneficial as possible.
