Karma is such an interesting word, isn’t it?
In fact, in one of my books, Success Is Within, I have explained about karma , because I feel this is such an important element in our corporate life.
Do you recollect your days in the elementary years when we were taught in a very common phrase at school, “Do unto others as you would like them to do to you now” Then, as we entered middle school, we heard those phrases, “As you sow, so shall you reap”. And towards high school and college, the concept of physics introduced us to the cause and effect relationships.
So to me, actually, karma goes beyond just action and reaction, and it goes beyond just cause and effect.
It is precisely about being responsible for your actions. And as leaders, we often forget this law towards success.
Karma means you are solely responsible for everything you are, for everything you have or you don’t have, and for everything you achieve and for everything you become.
So success and failure is because of your daily actions, your karma.
And as such, you are entirely responsible for everything happening in your business and in your job. You hold the power to change anything by choosing a different set of actions or karma that will lead you towards making a different set of choices and results that you want.
In the professional world, we ignore this basic principle, and that is why we get stuck with questions like, why did this happen to me? Why did I not go ahead as compared to him or her? And many of us have never got a clear answer.
The only way to empower yourself to change your results is to know your karma, acknowledge it, and change it the way you wish to. So I encourage you to just reflect back on all your karmas, on all your actions that you’ve had to reach where you are.
