Your 'before my final goodbye' list

Sorry to mention the word ‘final goodbye’ in the title, yet you and I both know that we have a limited time in the corporate world. Like it or not, we’ll all come to the end of it, sooner or later. Like I always say, none of us are here forever. We will need to pass the baton to the new generation of the workforce.

It reminds me of one of the CEOs I met sometime back in California’s silicon valley. He narrated to me how he always worked with the end in mind. He retires this year-end, but he had very meticulously prepared for this day. How? When he stepped into the manager role for the first time, on that very same day, he sat in solitude and wrote down 5 things he wanted to achieve before he retired. He reflected on the things that truly mattered. No positions and titles. Only impactful things that he wanted to do which would help him lead a career life of significance and do something impactful at work. Within a few years, most were done. And he now retires with fulfillment in December of 2022.

I believe each of us is here to create history. We are here to do something no one else can do. You are unique.

Beginning today, I encourage you to take a few pristine hours — hidden away from the world — to generate your list of 5 things you must do before you say your final goodbye from the corporate world.

I have mine, and I find it helpful to refer to this list of mine. It helps me stay focused on giving the world my best.
